Before you begin to move your WordPress site, read the following articles:

There are a few steps to this upgrading the site
1. Backup and remove the old site
- ftp into the ‘web’ folder on the server (usually ‘html’, ‘public_html’ or ‘web’)
- make a folder on your computer and download the old site to it
- delete all files and folders in the web folder except any system files like ‘stats’,’logs’, ‘webalizer’ and ‘error’ folders
2. Upload the new site into the ‘web’ folder
3. Edit wp-config.php to match your mysql settings
4. Make sure the upload folder has the permissions ‘777’ – you should be able to do this with decent ftp program like Filezilla
5. Using phpMyAdmin, import the wordpress database tables into your database
6. If this is done right you should be able to login
There are a couple of plugins to help with migrating. You may need to install these into the development site before uploading to the server.
